Good afternoon Cambridgeport Families!

118 Families were able to join us this morning for what I hope was an informative meeting about school reopening. While I presented the needed information via Google Slides, several staff members responded to parent questions in the Zoom chat. The presentation was a little bit over an hour and a half. I am writing you to let you know that I need to change the date of the next scheduled Cambridgeport Family Re-Opening Meeting scheduled for September 8th at 6PM. I learned that a Roundtable Meeting is taking place virtually on Tuesday, September 8th from 6 - 8PM. During the Roundtable Meeting, members of the Educator Collaboratives will share the tools they developed for educators to launch the 2020 - 2021 school year. I think it is imperative for families to join the Roundtable Meeting on Tuesday, September 8th at 6PM. You can find more information on the Cambridge Public Schools' Website.

I am rescheduling the Cambridgeport Family Re-Opening meeting that I scheduled for Tuesday, September 8th to Thursday, September 10th at 6PM. I wanted to offer an evening time to meet with families and understand that September 10th is later than expected. September 10th is the only available evening time I have left open to meet for that week.

In this meeting, we will discuss the following information and answer any questions you may have.

  • Classroom teacher assignments selection process for grades Special Start to 3rd grade
  • In-person classroom set up and expectations and sample schedule
  • Sample school schedule and expectations for remote teaching and student engagement
  • Criteria for selecting 2nd and 3rd grade seats
  • Family communication guidelines
  • Safety precautions for in-person learning

Our teachers are ready to reach out to you regarding scheduling Family Listening Conferences. In my meeting, I am sharing why many of the classroom teacher assignments needed to change. Please be aware that a different teacher in grades Special Start to 3rd grade may contact you to schedule a 30-minute Family Listening Conference. The change in a teacher is due to the shift in how many families chose remote versus in-person. I am attaching the presentation that I shared with families this morning. Please understand that the slides that feature a grouping of students and class size numbers are subject to change. If you could not join our Cambridgeport Team this morning on Zoom, please join us on Thursday, September 10th at 6PM.

In Partnership,

Genteen Jean-Michel
